Here Are 5 Ways To Stay Hydrated — Even If You Hate Drinking Water

Published:

There are some people who can happily chug glasses of water all day long. They have their own BPA free water bottles. They look healthy. You can tell they feel great.

And then there are the rest of us. Those of us who just don’t feel that thirsty. Those of us who find water to be both boring and tasteless but also kind of yucky. Those of us who can’t see plunking down hard earned cash for water — which should be free — when you can have a soda or coffee instead.

Unfortunately, when you just don’t like drinking water, you run the risk of dehydration. And dehydration brings with it some unpleasant symptoms. Constipation. Weight gain. KIDNEY STONES. And a study performed last summer found that driving dehydrated is comparable to driving drunk.

That’s why we’ve compiled some tips to help people who hate drinking water to stay hydrated. Cheers!

  1. Order a salad. Or have an apple. You don’t have to drink all of the liquid that goes into your body — you can eat it as well. Fruits and vegetables tend to have high water content, which can help keep you hydrated without drinking water.
  2. Stop for soup. Canned soup (preferably low sodium) is cheap, easy to make in your truck, and can really help you stay hydrated.
  3. Coffee counts. While the caffeine in your morning joe is dehydrating, the water in the coffee makes up for it — to a point. As long as you stay under three to five cups a day, then your coffee habit is probably helping, not harming, your hydration levels.
  4. Flavor it up. Often times, tap water has an unpleasant but not harmful taste that can turn people off. But there are some low calorie options that can help you mask the funk. Try lemon or lime slices or purchase a water flavor enhancer. A few drops of a water enhancer like MiO is calorie free and can make getting the hydration you need a little more fun.
  5. Opt for tea. Whether hot or iced, a tea bag is an inexpensive and healthy way to transform a gross glass of water into something you’ll enjoy drinking.
