Dump Truck Driver Loses Control In Cul-De-Sac

Many questions still remain about the crash which occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Cedar Creek housing development. According to reports, the dump truck driver somehow lost control as he headed west on 111th Terrace, entering a cul-de-sac and then leaving the road and crashing down an embankment between two houses.

According to neighbors, the dump truck driver somehow managed to maintain enough control to avoid hitting a group of children playing in the cul-de-sac. One neighborhood resident firmly believes that the driver is a hero: “I don’t know how he did it, but he had the presence of mind as far as I know. He saved lives. It’s a miracle to me.

The dump truck crashed between two homes, sideswiping one of them, but the damage is believed to be minimal.

Truck Driver In Critical Condition After Crash

The 39 year old dump truck driver was hospitalized for serious injuries sustained during the crash. No other injuries were reported.

Police still aren’t sure why he lost control of the truck. They are waiting until his condition improves to talk to him.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is encouraged to call Olathe police at (913) 971-7500 or (913) 971-6950.
