Houston Man Charged With Murdering Truck Driver

Two months after a truck driver was shot and then fell off of an overpass on the Gulf Freeway to his death, police have arrested and charged the man they believe was responsible.

Hotel Altercation Leads To Shooting

According to Houston police, 48 year old truck driver Alex Benson became involved in an altercation at the Sun Suites Extended Stay hotel in the 12400 block of the Gulf Freeway on April 28. Kevin Peoples, 29, reportedly opened fire on Benson.

Injured Trucker Falls From Overpass

Benson managed to escape in his truck. He drove to an overpass on the Gulf Freeway near Almeda Mall, where he got out to seek help. Benson fell from the overpass, landing 15 feet below in a U turn lane. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Houston Police Charge Man With Murder

Police questioned both Peoples and a female suspect who was with him at the time of the shooting. The female was not charged.

Peoples has been officially charged with murder.

Police are still unsure what caused the altercation between Peoples and Benson.
