A portion of the eastbound lanes of I-70 through St. Charles, Missouri, will be closed this weekend for construction. Heavy delays are also expected in the westbound lanes.
The I-70 shut down is happening because crews will be working this weekend to demolish the Fairground Roads Bridge.
The road closure will take place on I-70 between Route 94 and Fifth Street. Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, road crews will begin to close eastbound and westbound lanes. By 11 p.m., all eastbound lanes will be closed. Only one westbound lane will remain open. There will be intermittent 15 minutes closures of that westbound lane as crews remove bridge girders.
All day Saturday and Sunday, all eastbound lanes of I-70 will be closed. One westbound lane will remain open.
On Monday by 5 a.m., crews will reopen both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 except for the left lanes of both, which will remain closed for the next two months.
