The northbound lanes of I-85 in Gaston County, North Carolina, have been closed after a semi truck overturned and fell down an embankment this afternoon.

The crash happened at Exit 27 around 1:30 p.m.
Police say that a truck for some reason left the highway, crashed into a guardrail, and fell down an embankment, overturning and landing on its side.
The truck driver is reportedly trapped inside. His condition is unknown.
A medical helicopter is on standby.
The North Carolina DOT says that northbound I-85 may not reopen until 5:30 p.m. The crash has caused miles-long traffic backups.
