I-90 Over Snoqualmie Pass Closed Indefinitely For Avalanche Threat

I-90 Closed

Because of serious concerns about avalanches, the Washington State Department of Transportation closed I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass and Highway 2 through Stevens Pass this morning.

I-90 has been shut down from North Bend to Ellensburg. Transportation officials have no idea when it will reopen because the avalanche threat is so high.

Highway 2 has been closed from Tumwater Canyon to Coles Corner. WSDOT recommends Chumstick Highway as a detour for regular traffic, but this local road is closed to trucks that weigh over 10,000 pounds.
