Eastbound I-90 in Washington state will be closed until the evening following a crash involving a gas tanker truck and a pickup truck.
The crash happened six miles east of North Bend at milepost 34 this morning. Police say that the pickup truck lost control while attempting to pass the tanker truck, striking the tanker and causing it to roll over.
There were no significant injuries reported, but the crash did cause a gas leak. Crews on site say the tanker is leaking one gallon of gas per minute. Hazmat teams are on site.
Initially, authorities believed that I-90 would reopen around 4 p.m., but they now say that cleanup will take longer because of the gas leak.
