A man was killed last night when he was run over by the yard hopper that he was using to move trailers from a loading dock at a trucking company in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. at Howell Motor Freight. Dexter Leroy Marion, 46, reportedly stepped out of the yard hopper for a moment. The yard hopper started to roll away from the dock and hit Marion.
An employee called 911 and police, medics, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
Marion was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by law enforcement as well as North Carolina Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
