Memphis Man Behind Bars For Road Rage Shooting Attack On Trucker

A Memphis motorist has been arrested for repeatedly cutting off and opening fire on a truck driver during an apparent road rage incident on Sunday night.

Trucker May Have Cut Off Road Rager

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on August 7. Truck driver Phillip Daniel spotted a disabled truck on I-40 and says he moved over for it. In the process of moving over, he believes he may have cut off motorist Ronald Bedford, who was in a Dodge Charger.

According to Daniel, over the course of three miles, Bedford repeatedly cut him off and tried to shoot out his tires. Daniel said that after the first shot was fired, he went into survival mode: “After the first cap busted, I laid over in the seat, because he started drifting back toward the driver door and I figured the next would be coming in there.

Daniel called 911 after the shooting started.

When police arrived on the scene, they found two shell casings in the front seat of the Charger. They also found a 9mm Ruger in the glove box.

Motorist Faces Serious Charges

Bedford was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. He claimed that he couldn’t have done the shooting because he holds a master’s degree. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.

Daniel told local news outlets, “There’s a penalty for what he did and he’s going to have to pay for it.
