A truck driver was rescued by a group of passing motorists after a fiery crash on I-91 in Connecticut this morning.
Dominique Phill Jenkins, 26, was driving in the northbound lanes of I-91 near Wallingford around 4:30 a.m. when he lost control, hitting a wire guard rail and an exit sign. The truck rolled over and caught fire. The trailer also broke open and spilled its cargo.
Fortunately, passing motorists stopped and were able to pull Jenkins from the burning truck to safety. He was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries.
Jenkins was cited for failure to maintain his lane.
The crash caused substantial traffic backups while crews cleaned up the spilled cargo and police investigated the cause of the crash.
It isn’t clear why Jenkins lost control of his truck.
