Several crashes on I-70 in Indiana have caused huge traffic delays this morning.
Westbound I-70 was closed four miles west of Indiana 231 at the 37 mile marker following a crash involving two 18-wheelers. One of the trucks overturned and the other jackknifed. At least one person had to be extracted from the crash site while traffic was rerouted onto U.S. 231. A crash victim was airlifted for suspected internal injuries.
There was also a minor accident in the eastbound lanes of I-70, also at the 37 mile marker.
Another accident involving a large motorhome on I-70 near the 5 mile marker has caused traffic disruptions.
A winter weather advisory was in effect until 10 a.m., but poor travel conditions persist throughout the state. Reports of other crashes are still coming in.
