Pedestrian's Death Ruled Suicide By Truck

New York police have ruled the death of a pedestrian suicide by truck after the man reportedly deliberately stepped in front of an oncoming semi.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. on I-87 in suburban Albany. Twenty-six year old Andrew N. Rosenbaum of Colonie stepped out in front of a truck driven by 60 year old Quebec driver Roy Daniel.

Police say that Daniel locked up his brakes to try to avoid hitting Rosenbaum, but he was unable to stop in time.

Emergency crews attempted to revive Rosenbaum, but they were not successful.

Daniel will not be cited.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident caused a major traffic backup. All lanes of I-87 did not reopen until 2 a.m.
