POEM: Mile Marker 129

Mile Marker 129

By RLC

Many have asked
How can I do what I do
Stay gone all the time
Missing all of you

Many of you know
What it is to feel free
With wind in your hair
By a river under a tree

It’s easy to say
My boss is a phone
He’s not in my face
He leaves me alone

But the truth of it is
It’s so much more
It’s everything I see
Just lookin’ out my door

The sunrises and sunsets
Are my two favorite things
They start out my days
Ushering in my dreams

Out on the roads
So many places
So many lives
And so many faces

You don’t see what I do
I’m just in your way
But so many like me
Bring what you  need everyday

We’re the silent  souls
That drive all our lives
Missing events, friends
Families and wives

But with a smile on my face
Pride in my heart
I’m out on the road
A new trip I start

So I’ll share what I see
Hoping you see it to
I love who I am
I live what I do

I miss you all
And keep you near all the time
As I’m thinking of you now
At mile marker 129
