Detroit police are offering a cash reward for information on a white bobtail that they believe was involved in a fatal hit and run last month.
The crash happened on February 23 on West Eight Mile between Southfield and Evergreen road just before 3 a.m. Lashawn Renee Dawson was reportedly walking either in or along the westbound lanes of the road when she was hit by a vehicle and killed. The driver of the vehicle did not stop.
Based on a statement from Crime Stoppers, it is unclear whether police think another vehicle aside from the truck might be involved: “It is believed that the driver of the semi might have witnessed the accident and probably dragged the victim afterward.”
Police have released images of a white bobtail that they believe is a Volvo in hopes of finding the truck’s driver. They believe that the truck would have front end damage.
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering up to $100o for information that leads to the driver of the truck. You can contact them anonymously at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
