Port Authority Sues Trucking Company For Chronic Toll Skipping

Published:

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will take a trucking company to court over its history of chronic toll evasion.

According to the suit, drivers from New Jersey-based Alyssa Bus Transportation have used the E-ZPass lanes without a transponder in order to avoid tolls 360 times in the past four years.

The Port Authority says that it has sent several fine notices to Alyssa offices, but that they have been ignored. The lawsuit also alleges that Alyssa is aware that their drivers are frequent toll evaders.

The lawsuit is seeking $27,000 — $10,000 for tolls and $17,000 in fines and fees.

An Alyssa representative claims that the company has never received any fine notices from the Port Authority.
