Authorities Confirm That Propane Leak Caused Semi Explosion

The explosion happened at the Sheridan Walmart on Saturday morning around 8:15. According to Incident Commander Jerry Johnston, “the gentleman had a propane cookstove in the sleeper of his semi and there was a leak in the propane line. And I believe the occupant of the semi lit a cigarette and caused an explosion that blew the semi apart. And in turn caused the fire shortly thereafter.

When crews arrived on scene, the truck was engulfed in flames.

Johnston confirmed that the truck driver was flown to a burn center in Salt Lake City. He is expected to survive.
