Florida Highway Patrol On The Lookout For Aggressive Drivers

Published:

The Florida Highway Patrol has ramped up enforcement to curb aggressive driving behaviors both by motorists and truck drivers.

Florida Highway Patrol: Speeding, Following Too Closely, Will Be Ticketed

From now through March 24, the Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT) campaign is in high gear, meaning that driving behaviors like speeding, unsafe lane changes, and following too closely are more likely to be ticketed.

In addition to increased enforcement, the campaign also uses billboards and radio spots to educate car and truck drivers on how to share the road safely. The Florida Highway Patrol is also joining forces with the Florida Trucking Association to educate motorists on how to drive around big trucks.

Driver Error Blamed For Majority Of Big Truck Crashes

According to the TACT campaign, 88% of crashes involving large trucks can be blamed on errors by either the truck driver or the motorist. Only 12% are blamed on vehicle defects, weather, or other unforeseeable conditions.
