A newly launched app called “Truckers Nearby” aims to help truckers find romance on the road.
Truckers Nearby Hopes To Succeed Where Other Dating Apps Fail Truckers
According to the app’s developers, “Trucker dating may seem like an unusual dynamic, but it is currently the largest overlooked segment of online dating. Given the long hours and travel associated with the job, Truckers Nearby is hoping to unite truckers dating who have been sold short by typical dating experiences.”
The app is free for both Android and iPhone users with optional paid upgrades.
Modeled after the popular dating app Tinder, users are able to search the photos and profiles of other users and then to swipe left to remove that profile from their list of potential matches. If both users swipe right, however, a formal match is made and the users can immediately contact one another.
The app’s developers say that it also offers features to help matches stay in touch.
Mixed Reviews: Glitches, Not Enough Users, Say Some Users
The app’s reviews have been mixed, with an average Google Play rating of 3.3 out of 5 stars. Here’s what some Google Play reviewers had to say:
“Good app I really like it. Talking to people now” — Robby Sundancer
“I think the idea is good but whoever started this didn’t market it well and many users has given up on the app. It has profiles women actually but im not sure they are active or been on in the past year. This app would be better if it would go on a wide marketing campaign to get people on here and show the last time someone has been online.” — Justin Dinkins
Other users have complained about glitches within the app, but September 26th app update promised to fix the bugs.
