A seventeen year old man died this morning when he reportedly walked directly into the path of a semi on I-35 in New Braunfels, Texas.
The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-35 near the Walmart Distribution Center.
According to a statement from the New Braunfels Police Department, the teen pulled his pickup over on the median, exited the vehicle, and then “intentionally walked directly in front of the oncoming 18-wheeler.”
Rescue crews attempted to resuscitate the teen, but he died at the scene.
The 52 year old Indiana-based truck driver was not hurt. Police say that he will not be cited or charged.
The incident has caused serious traffic delays. I-35 southbound is closed and is expected to remain closed until sometime this afternoon.
