Police are hunting for a suspect who they say shot and killed a Krispy Kreme truck driver during a gas station robbery early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. at a Mapco gas station in Donelson, Tennessee.
According to reports, an armed man entered the gas station, took money from the cash register, and then fled the store. On the way out, he fired several shots into a Krispy Kreme delivery truck sitting on the premises.
The truck driver, 61 year old Al Baker, was able to drive his rig away from the gas station in spite of his injuries. He managed to drive his truck to a nearby Walgreens. He crashed into one of the front entrance columns before his truck came to a stop.
Baker was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Nashville Metro Police called the shooting “senseless” and said that Baker had been targeted for “no apparent reason.”
The suspect in the shooting is described as a black male, 6′ with a thin build. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a blue hoodie with an orange “Nike” logo on it, tan cargo pants, and white shoes.
