A serious crash involving three semi trucks and at least one passenger vehicle shut down the westbound lanes of I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson for hours early this morning.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. this morning near mile post 225 near Pinal Air Park Road.
Investigators are still working to uncover details regarding the cause of the crash, but images captured by the Avra Valley Fire Department show one of the trucks on top of the passenger vehicle.
Five people were transported to the hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
Westbound I-10 was closed for hours while crews worked to remove the damaged vehicles, but it has reopened.
