Eastbound I-10 Near Eloy Closed For Fatal Semi Crash

Published:

A crash that cost a truck driver his life early this morning has forced transportation officials to close eastbound I-10 near Eloy, Arizona.

Police say the crash happened just after 2 a.m. at mile marker 211. A truck hauling boxed dairy products was reportedly traveling west on I-10 when it veered over the median and entered the eastbound lanes. The truck crashed and the driver was ejected.

Investigators say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

It is unclear if any other vehicles were involved or if other injuries have been reported.

The identity of the truck driver has not been released.

Westbound lanes are open, but it isn’t clear when transportation officials will be able to reopen eastbound lanes. Traffic is being diverted to a frontage road.
