Eastbound Lanes Of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Closed For Big Rig Fire

Published:

The eastbound lanes of I-580 on the lower deck of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in Richmond, California, are shut down due to a truck fire this morning.

The fire started on the bridge around 8 a.m. after the truck reportedly hit a guardrail and burst into flames.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, but the cab of the truck was completely destroyed.

The California Highway Patrol says that there is no estimated time for the reopening of the eastbound lanes. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
