Published:

A California man was arrested Monday for threatening to kill a couple when a truck from their company which was allegedly full of hidden money failed to reach its destination in Dallas.

Men Threaten To Kill Couple Over Truck That Did Not Reach Its Destination

Police say that the incident began on Saturday in Cutler Bay, Florida, when 35 year old Jesus Soto Garcia and an unknown Hispanic male arrived at a couple’s home and said that they would kill the couple if they weren’t paid the $23,000 that Garcia said they owed him.

The couple claimed that they had never seen Garcia or his companion before.

Garcia told the couple that a semi truck that they had dispatched from their company did not arrive at its destination in Dallas. Garcia also claimed that the truck was full of flowers and that $250,000 was hidden somewhere on the truck.

The couple transferred $2000 to Garcia, but said that he would have to wait until Monday when the banks reopened to get the rest. Garcia reportedly warned the couple that family members would die if they contacted police.

Woman Able To Get Message To Bank Teller

Garcia and his companion returned to the couple’s home on Monday and escorted them to a Wells Fargo Bank. The woman was sent inside by herself. There she was able to slip the teller a note that said “Help me. I am being threatened. They are waiting for that money outside” in Spanish.

Man Faces Felony Charges

The bank employees were able to contact police and Garcia was arrested. He is facing charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, grand theft and robbery/carjacking. The other man was able to evade authorities.

His companion is still on the loose. He is described as heavy set with a goatee and neck tattoos.

If you have information about this incident, please contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

The incident is still under investigation.
