Police Search For Trucker After Semi Brake Drum Kills Motorist

A woman died on Wednesday night after a twenty-one pound brake drum fell off a semi truck and crashed through her windshield.

Indiana Driver Crashes After Brake Drum Crashes Into Windshield

Police say that the incident happened around 6 p.m. on State Road 46 in Owen County, Indiana. Thirty-one year old motorist Sarah Carr was traveling west when the brake drum fell off a truck, bounced on the road, then hit her vehicle. Carr’s vehicle went off the road down an embankment and crashed into a utility pole.

When rescuers arrived, they found a large hole in the windshield on the driver’s side.

Carr was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A child who was in the car with her suffered minor injuries.

One other vehicle was damaged by part of the brake drum.

Authorities Are Looking For The Truck Driver

Police are looking for the truck driver involved in the incident, but they have little information to go on. The only description that they have of the truck is that the back of the trailer was silver with a dark green trim.
