In anticipation of Hurricane Matthew’s touchdown on the east coast, Pilot Flying J issued a release today to update customers on their storm preparation.
The hurricane is expected to reach the U.S. on the morning of Friday, October 7. Weather experts predict that the hurricane will hit Florida first and then continue up the east coast, but they also say that hurricanes are unpredictable and hard to forecast.
During Hurricane Sandy in 2012, almost three hundred people lost their lives. Many truck drivers reported that truck stops ran out of fuel. We urge anyone traveling to the east coast this weekend to make sure that you fill up on fuel before you depart and to use extreme caution.
Hurricane Matthew is expected to be a Category 4 hurricane by the time it hits U.S. soil. Already, long lines have been reported at gas stations in Florida. Many South Carolina highways are gridlocked as residents try to evacuate.

Pilot Flying J says that it has begun storm preparations which include staging generators in case of power loss. The release also says that “our transportation fleet is preparing to ensure we have drivers and trucks in place before and after the storm.”
