Trucker Arrested After Pinning Another Driver’s Leg In Parking Accident

Published:

A truck driver has pled guilty to charges following a backing crash at a Connecticut truck stop that injured another truck driver’s leg.

The incident happened just after midnight on Thursday at a truck stop in Southington.

Truck Hits Parked Semi Twice During Backing Attempt

According to police, 26 year old truck driver Mohamood Ahmed was attempting to back his truck into a parking space. During the attempt, his trailer struck another truck in the next parking spot.

The truck driver who was hit by Ahmed opened the door of his truck to get out and assess the damage. As he did, Ahmed moved the truck to readjust and struck the same truck again, this time pinning the other driver’s leg in the truck’s door.

That driver was taken to the hospital for the treatment of a possibly broken leg.

Driver Fled Truck Stop But Later Called Police

Ahmed told police that he knew that he hit the other truck but said that he left the truck stop because he felt threatened by the other truck drivers. He told police that he wasn’t aware that he had injured another driver.

He called police from Berlin just before 3 a.m. to report the incident.

Ahmed was arrested and held in lieu of a $2500 bond. He was initially charged with evading responsibility involving physical injury, but this charge was later reduced to  failure to stop and show.

Ahmed was freed after paying a $50 fine.
