Trucker Strikes Fellow Driver With Metal Gauntlet Over Loud Radio

Published:

A truck stop fight over a loud radio turned medieval when one truck driver struck another with a metal gauntlet used for jousting.

The incident happened at a Flying J truck stop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, last Thursday.

According to police, 60 year old Pennsylvania trucker Stephen Meyer approached another trucker identified as “James” at the truck stop and asked him several times to turn down his radio.

When James refused to lower the volume, Meyer reportedly attacked him.

When police responded to the scene, Meyer produced the Renaissance Fair-worthy weapon used in the attack. According to the responding officer, “I asked Stephen what he had hit James with and he produced a metal gauntlet from the cab of his semi-truck. Stephen stated that he used the gauntlet for jousting.

Police say James was bleeding from his mouth but refused medical assistance.

Meyer was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
