I-90 Westbound At Snoqualmie Pass Closed For Major Crash, 2 Dead, 5 Hurt

Published:

Two people were killed and at least five injured during a major crash that has closed westbound I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass.

The crash happened before 7 a.m. near Easton, Washington. At least 10 vehicles were involved in the crash. At least two of those were 18 wheelers — one of these was a commercial car hauler.

Some reports indicate that there were actually two separate crashes in the same area.

The two people who were killed were both in the same passenger vehicle. Five others involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. It is unclear whether the truck drivers were hurt in the crash.

Seventeen miles of I-90 between Milepost 54 and the Easton exit have been closed for investigation and clean up. Traffic is at a total standstill and transportation officials are unsure when I-90 will reopen. The eastbound lanes of I-90 are open.

It is unclear what caused the crash but troopers say winter weather could have been a factor.
