North Carolina Police Seek Trucker Accused Of I-77 Road Rage

Published:

Police in Huntersville, North Carolina, are on the lookout for a truck driver accused of repeatedly ramming a car with a child inside during a suspected road rage incident yesterday.

According to police, the incident happened around 7:20 a.m. on southbound I-77 between Exit 25 and Exit 23.

Forty-four-year-old Deomatie Ratiram claims that she had her ten year old daughter in the car when she entered I-55 from Exit 25. Ratiram says that a semi struck her car and then continued to ram it until Exit 23.

Ratiram said she initially thought that the truck hit her car accidentally, but that it soon became clear to her that the truck driver was striking her deliberately: ‘It was a scary feeling, I am still in shock. The truck behind me came and hit me from the back where I thought he did not do it purposely. So I tried to pull over to the right.  He hit me really hard again.  Now I said he was doing it purposely.

Ratiram says that other motorists were filming the incident and that she hopes someone will come forward with video.

Huntersville police say that they are looking for a purple truck with Indiana tags driven by a white male with a grey beard or goatee.

If you know anything about the incident, you’re asked to contact police at 704-464-5400.
