“He’s A Coward Who Needs To Fess Up”: “Street Racer” In Crash That Killed Trucker Still At Large

Published:

California police are still looking for a “street racer” who they believe caused a crash that killed three people and injured four others on the I-5 near Commerce.

Street Racers Lose Control And Crash Into Truck

The crash happened just after midnight on Saturday when two drivers in a Dodge Challenger and a dark colored Dodge Charger were reportedly racing on the southbound lanes of I-5. One of the vehicles lost control and crashed into the side of a UPS truck.

The truck went airborne after crashing into the center divider and collided with a northbound grey Nissan with enough force to shave the roof off of the car. The truck came to a stop on top of a red Ford Explorer, then burst into flames.

Trucker And Two Teens Killed In Crash

The truck driver, Scott Treadway, 52, was killed in the crash. Two of the people in the Nissan were also killed: Michelle Littlefield, 19, and 18-year-old Brian Lewandowski. Four other people were injured — two critically. In all, eight vehicles were involved in the chain reaction crash. The crash shut down the freeway for almost 24 hours.

35-year-old Dealio Lockhart, the driver of the Dodge Challenger, was arrested on the scene. He admitted to police that he had been racing. He was arrested on suspicion of three counts of vehicular manslaughter, with other charges likely coming, and is currently being held on a $1 million bail.

Treadway was a member of Teamsters Local 396 and had worked for UPS for 30 years. Teamsters Local 396 posted on their Facebook page a message of grief over his death: “Scott was admired and loved by his friends and co-workers at UPS. We are still trying to come to grips with this horrible loss.”

Second Street Racer Still At Large

Treadway’s sister Dana had a message for the Dodge Charger driver who got away: “He’s a coward who needs to fess up.

The California Highway Patrol is still actively searching for the Dodge Charger driver. They urge him or her to step forward: “You got to do the right thing, turn yourself in.”

The Teamsters Local 396 Executive Board, Staff and Membership send our heartfelt condolences to the Family of our dear,…
