Trucker Blames Brake Failure For Crash Into Oklahoma Toll Booth Building

Published:

A truck driver who crashed into a building at the toll booth on the Cimarron Turnpike told police that brake failure was to blame for the crash.

The crash happened late last night in the eastbound lanes near the SH-99 exit in Pawnee County. A semi truck driver lost control and crashed into a Turnpike Authority building adjacent to the tollbooths which serves as a break room for employees.

Fortunately, no one was in the building at the time of the crash.

The truck driver told troopers that his brakes failed as he approached the toll booth.

The crash caused a power outage, so while drivers can pass through the toll booths, tolls cannot be collected. Eastbound lanes have been narrowed down to one lane.

Crews are looking assessing the damage today.

It isn’t clear if any charges have been filed.
