Trucker Killed After Crashing Over Pennsylvania Turnpike Embankment

Published:

A truck driver lost his life early this morning after crashing through a guardrail and down a steep embankment on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Trucker John Michael Coleman, 42, was hauling a load of corrosive cleaning supplies eastbound through Jefferson Township when he veered off the road around 2 a.m. He crashed through the guardrail and down a steep embankment, coming to a stop against some trees.

Hazmat teams were called in to contain a leak from the tanker.

It is unclear why Coleman lost control of his truck. Police do not believe that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

An autopsy will be performed to try to determine the cause of his death.
