Trucker Shot On Dan Ryan Expressway Recovering

Published:

A truck driver who was critically injured following a highway shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago last week is recovering.

Ion Rafan, 68, was driving north on the Dan Ryan near 95th Street, ready to park his truck for the day and head home, when shots were fired into his cab. A bullet hit Rafan under his nose before moving through his nose.

Rafan’s daughter says that he is recovering slowly, but it is unclear whether he will ever be able to return to work.  “He loves his job. He loves what he’s doing and it’s really sad that something like that happened,” she said.

The shooting took place late last Thursday night. Police have made no arrests, have no suspects, and have not released a description of the vehicle involved in the shooting.
