Truckers Shelter Traffic From Unconscious Pickup Driver

Published:

Two truck drivers worked together to corral an out of control pickup driven by a man who had lost consciousness on I-94 in Kenosha, Wisconsin during the weekend.

Truckers Spot Driver Slumped Over Wheel In Pickup

The incident happened Saturday just before six a.m. A pickup truck driven by 52-year-old Brian Carney reportedly kept striking the outside wall of the interstate. Two truckers in the area observed that Carney was slumped over the wheel and was apparently suffering from a medical issue.

The two truckers followed the pickup closely to try to keep it corralled so that it wouldn’t strike other vehicles on the highway.

Drivers Stop Pickup, Perform CPR

As the pickup began to slow down, trucker Rafal Jedlewski parked his rig and was able to open up the door of the pickup and stop it using the brake.

The truckers were able to get Carney out of the pickup. He was unresponsive and not breathing. The drivers performed CPR until rescue crews arrived.

Carney was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. It is unclear exactly what sort of medical condition he suffered from.

No one was injured during the incident.
