In these videos, a motorist films a FedEx driver swerving out of his lane and slowing to less than 5 m.p.h. on Ehrlich Road in Tampa, Florida yesterday around noon.
Motorist Films Swerving FedEx Driver
According to motorist Jonathan Simkins, who filmed the videos, “There’s cars stopping. There’s cars veering off the road. They know something is wrong.”
FedEx Driver Hands Over Keys
As Simkins filmed the incident with his cell phone, he says that he saw the driver’s head dip down. Simkins can be seen in the video yelling at the driver, trying to get him to pull over. After the second video concluded, the FedEx driver pulled over in a parking lot and gave up his keys to Simkins.
Police Believe Driver Was Impaired, Could Not Arrest Him
By the time that Hillsborough County deputies arrived on scene, the driver had removed his keys from the ignition, so he could not be arrested. Local news reports say that the deputies believe that the FedEx driver was “impaired” in some way, however.
FedEx Ground is cooperating with the investigation into the incident.
