Truck Driver App: DrayQ

Published:

A new app called DrayQ hopes to help truck drivers navigate the Port of Oakland’s long lines more efficiently.

DrayQ App Aims To Give Real Time Port Wait Information

The app uses Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS technology to give drivers real time information on how long they can expect to wait in line and how long their transactions will take on their smart phones. According to the app’s developers, “DrayQâ„¢ is the first smart phone application to provide real-time estimates of street wait times, terminal turn-time calculated from entry to exit, combined aggregate wait time and even the trend of that wait time.”

Port officials hope that the app will help drivers plan to visit the terminal at non-peak traffic hours.

The app’s developers also say that DrayQ can be used by shippers and trucking companies to determine the location of a driver and keep an eye on his productivity. They hope that the information garnered from the app can be used to improve the quality of dispatching.

App To Launch By End Of April

The technology for the app is already tested and in place. You should be able to download the app on the iTunes store or the Google Play store by the end of April.
