Truck Driver Killed After Hitting Another Driver’s Malfunctioning Rig

A truck driver was killed early this morning in a two-truck crash on northbound I-75 in Perrysburg, Ohio.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on I-75 near SR 795. 36-year-old driver Jason Matthews of Toledo was experiencing mechanical malfunctions on his truck. Matthews was driving slowly with his hazard lights on. A truck driven by 67-year-old Frank Hogle of Romulus, Michigan, was also driving in the northbound lanes when he struck Matthews’ truck.

Both men were taken to the hospital after the crash. Matthews suffered only minor injuries. Hogle, unfortunately, passed away from his injuries in the hospital.

Police are still investigating the crash.
