A trucker was arrested at the Goethals Bridge Toll Plaza in New Jersey yesterday after Port Authority officials discovered that he owed them over $74,000 for 712 toll violations.
Port Authority police say that they suspected something was amiss when an officer spotted a red 2017 Peterbilt with no license plates in the dedicated E-Z Pass lanes.
When police pulled the truck over, they found that the driver, Aaron Saguay-Gomez, had racked up hundreds of toll violations and fees worth $74,375.
Saguay-Gomez had an E-Z Pass transponder, but police say that it was hidden to avoid registering the toll.
Police impounded the Peterbilt and arrested Saguay-Gomez. He was charged with obstructing governmental administration, petit larceny, and a license plate violation.
The truck is owned by Sinai Trucking Company out of Newark.
