Police have identified the truck driver who was found deceased in a grassy area near the Flying J truck stop in Grand Forks on Sunday morning.
The body of 44 year old Ontario driver Shane Keith Fried was found by a Grand Forks resident walking his dog just south of the truck stop before 10 a.m. Police reported that there was significant trauma to Fried’s body and no attempt to resuscitate him was attempted.
Police did not find any evidence of foul play and say that they do not believe another person was involved in Fried’s death. They did find a weapon at the scene, but they believe that Fried’s injuries may have been self inflicted.
Fried appears to have been passing through Grand Forks. Investigators do not believe that he had any ties to the area.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
