A Maine truck driver has decided to turn in his keys early after hitting a $1 million jackpot on a scratchers ticket.
Trucker Alexander Duke of Ipswich won the jackpot off of a $5 “40X The Cash” scratchers ticket. He chose to take his winnings in a single lump sum of $650,000 (before tax).
Duke says he was planning on retiring in December, but with his lottery winnings, he decided to begin his retirement early.
Duke bought the ticket at a Riteaid in Amesbury. That store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
