An Oregon trucker walked into the Coburg TA Truck Stop to pick up a Megabucks lottery ticket and walked back out a multi-millionaire.
Driver Eric Tackett and his wife Beth were hauling steel along I-5 when they made a stop a the Coburg TA where they unknowingly purchased the winning ticket.
Tackett says that he plays Megabucks because you get two sets of numbers for $1. On the August 31 drawing, one set of Tackett’s numbers matched all six of the drawn numbers while the his other set of numbers was a match for three of the drawn numbers.
Tackett says he couldn’t believe that he’d won and had Beth check and recheck the numbers over 50 times on various phones and devices.
The Tacketts opted for the lump sum payment of the $9.4 million jackpot, meaning they’ll walk away with around $3 million after taxes.
The TA that sold the ticket will receive a selling bonus of $94,000.
Tackett says that he plans to continue trucking.
Time for the obligatory “what would you do with $3 million” question https://t.co/lLeKpe0SOl
