Trucker’s Wife Killed Crossing Maine Turnpike Between Service Plazas

A trucker’s wife was killed last night as she attempted to move from one service plaza to the other by crossing six lanes of the Maine Turnpike on foot.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. According to Maine State Police, 37 year old Kelly Genito was talking to a relative on her cell phone as she attempted to cross from one of the Kennebunk service plazas to the other on foot.

She was struck by a pickup driven by Christopher Manos and then at least two other vehicles. She was killed instantly.

Manos immediately stopped and called 911 to report the incident.

Troopers were able to locate her husband, 38 year old Marco Genito, who was sleeping in the truck at the time of the crash.

After talking to police, Genito left for home to be with the couple’s three children.
