U.S. Xpress announced that it will give some of its truck drivers a significant safety performance based pay hike.
Starting March 1, solo over the road drivers who have not had an accident or a citation in the past 12 months will receive an average 13.5% pay increase.
The new pay increase will mean that drivers with over 5 years of experience and safe driving records can make over $70,000 per year. Driver trainers with experience and good safety records could earn over $110,000 per year.
U.S. Xpress hopes that the pay increase will not only reward safe drivers that currently work for the company, but also help to attract experienced and safety-minded drivers who work for other companies to start a career with U.S. Xpress.
Around 2,800 of U.S. Xpress’s 7,000 are solo OTR truck drivers.
