The New York Times published an excellent short video on little known trucker Malcolm McLean, who first proposed the concept of the intermodal container after waiting hours to be loaded and unloaded at the pier.
Said McLean of the moment when he came up with the idea, “I was trying to get home for Thanksgiving.”
