This video of Oklahoma police pursuing a semi at slow speed isn’t what it seems.
According to the Durant Daily Democrat, police began pursuing the semi on Highway 69 on Wednesday when the driver didn’t pull over for a traffic stop. At first, officers believed that the trucker was evading them — until they realized that he was suffering from a medical condition and was unable to stop his truck.
The pursuit took place from Stringtown to Atoka — a straight six mile stretch of highway.
Authorities say that the driver was laying unconscious on the steering wheel with his foot on the accelerator pedal as his truck traveled down the highway.
Police were able to block the highway and set up spike strips to stop the truck. The trucker was transported to the hospital for treatment.
No injuries or crashes were reported.
