A Louisiana woman has filed a lawsuit against “Duck Commander” — the same company behind the A & E reality series “Duck Dynasty” — which claims that one of their trucks forced her daughter off the road and caused her death.
Teen Killed In Rollover Crash
Eighteen year old Madison Welch was killed in 2014 on her way home from a hunting trip on I-10 near Breaux Bridge. A witness claimed that a big rig cut off her vehicle and forced her off the road. She then rolled her pickup into the median.
Mother Believes Video Proves Duck Commander Is To Blame
Welch’s mother, Jennifer Young, bases her lawsuit on surveillance video from a nearby campground, which she believes can pin the crash on a Duck Commander employee. However, police say that they were not able to get much information on the crash from the video.
Young’s lawsuit claims that “a vehicle being operated by agents, employees and/or licensees of Duck Commander, Inc. negligently cut off Madison Hope Welch and forced her off the roadway.”
Lawsuit Also Implicates Louisiana DOTD
The lawsuit also alleges that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is to blame for the crash because they failed in numerous aspects of highway design and maintenance.
