Wrecked 18-Wheeler Investigation Leads To Fatal Shooting Of Murder Suspect

Oklahoma police shot and killed a man who they later learned was a murder suspect after responding to calls about an 18-wheeler crash yesterday.

Around 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon, an Okmulgee County deputy responded to a 911 call about a truck that left the road on US Highway 75 near Schulter and drove into a pond near the Okmulgee Wildlife Refuge.

When the deputy attempted to make contact with the man driving the truck, the man pulled out a weapon. The deputy fired two to three shots at the driver of the truck.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. The deputy was not hurt.

Later, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation revealed that the man who had been shot and killed was 53 year old John Neuman.

Neuman had been charged with second degree murder after police found his wife beaten to death in their home in May of 2015.

Neuman was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his death.

The investigation is still ongoing, but some initial reports suggest that the truck was stolen.

An autopsy will be performed to determine whether the shooting was justified.
