According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Kameron Lee, the crash happened during rush hour traffic when a big rig was unable to stop for slowed vehicles.
Seven people were injured in the chain reaction crash, and two of the injuries have been reported as serious. None of the injuries are thought to be life-threatening. It is not clear whether the truck driver was among those injured in the crash.
The westbound Loop at 32nd street has been completely shut down. Eastbound traffic is unaffected. It isn’t clear when the freeway will reopen. ADOT recommends I-10 westbound as an alternate route.
