Truck Driver Robbed At Gunpoint In Newark, Delaware I-95 Service Center

On Saturday, August 5, 2017, a 31-year-old tractor-trailer driver was approached by a man while waiting in his truck in the Southern parking lot of the Delaware House Service Area (530 JFK Memorial Highway). According to Public Information Officer Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale, the incident happened at approximately 6:52 p.m.
A man approached the driver with a handgun and demanded the driver’s wallet and phone. According to Hale, the driver gave the man his wallet, but refused to surrender his phone.

Suspect On The Run After Robbing Trucker

The suspect left the driver with his phone, and the driver was not injured. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an eastbound direction.

Hale described the suspect as a 40-45 year old African American male, approximately 5 feet 8-9 inches, and between 170 and 180 pounds. He was wearing dark jean shorts, a green polo shirt, a black hat, and black shoes.
